4 Tips For A Strong Relationship

Posted on September 28 2019

I recently celebrated my seventh year anniversary with my boyfriend, and I’ve had people consistently ask me: How do you do it?” “How do you guys make it work for so long?”

TBH… those are great questions. Looking back, it’s crazy how much time we’ve spent together and I can’t seem to get enough. People always talk about how relationships can be a lot of work, but they should also be filled with love, fun and happiness.

I want to share four tips with you that I treasure from my relationship, hoping that it helps you build a strong, beautiful connection with your soulmate:

KEEPING THE SPARK ALIVE
How many of us are accustomed to following a daily routine? Guilty! The most important tip that I can give you is to keep your relationship fun and fresh.

My boyfriend and I love spicing up date nights by trying something new as often as possible, whether it’s learning to dance, having brunch or watching an improv show. Recently, we started traveling together, and it’s created such a strong bond between the two of us.  We’re also not afraid to be silly with each other, and I have to say it’s my favorite part.

If you’re in a relationship, don’t be afraid to change things up, as it will keep things exciting for the both of you.

SIMPLE ACTS OF LOVE
To show someone how much you care doesn’t always have to be grand gesture. Have you ever heard of the saying “it’s the little things that count?” Well I’m a firm believer that simple acts of love can go a long way, as they’ll draw you closer to your partner.

Love is full of effort. So start planning things to make your partner happy, like surprising them with afternoon picnics, preparing their favorite meal, writing an intimate letter or even giving each other more hugs and kisses throughout the day. I promise the little things will make the biggest difference in your relationship.

MOTIVATING EACH OTHER
A strong relationship requires happy people. My advice to you is to not get in the way of your partner’s dreams out of fear of it drawing you apart. What I’ve learned is that if you both encourage one another to do what you love and makes you happy, it will naturally bring you both so much closer.

Constantly remind each other to chase your dreams, regardless of what others will say. After all this is your life, and it’s the perfect time for you to explore who you are and what you love.

ESTABLISHING A FRIENDSHIP
Let’s be real... When you’re in a relationship, you spend more time talking with your significant other than anyone else. You’re constantly sharing your secrets, fears, everyday details, feelings, joys… the lists goes on.

This person easily becomes your best friend, and I’m here to tell you that it is okay to not hold back. Embrace it. Let down your guard and trust your partner. It’s a beautiful thing when you can fully trust someone and be the real you.

“Opening up your soul to someone, letting them into your spirit, thoughts, fears, future, hopes and dreams … that’s being naked.”
Xoxo,
Jesslyn
